Godox KNOWLED M600Bi

Godox in recent years have been expanding their product range to cover multiple facets of the photography/videography world. Their name is becoming synonymous with high quality, professional-grade, reliable and affordable kit. On top of their staple product line– flash photography lighting, they have branched into other areas such as continuous LED lighting, microphones, monitors, and all manner of accessories.

The latest product Godox have unveiled shows the direction that perhaps the professional photography industry is going – towards variable colour temperature LED C.O.B. lighting. Though primarily aimed at videographers, recent trends would suggest there is space for a very powerful LED light in the photography sphere too. Could this be where the recent release of the Godox M600Bi comes in? What itch is the brand-new Bi-coloured LED light scratching?

The Godox M600Bi model has been advertised under Godox’s sub brand name – KnowLED. Godox themselves have described the M600 models as the ”knockout fixture” of the KNOWLED series, and it’s not hard to see why. Proving an enormous amount of light (17,500 lux at 3 metres while equipped with the included pro reflector/40,100 lux with FLS10), the ML600Bi will light up even the darkest of scenes in a spectacular fashion. Where it excels above the original M600D Daylight edition is in the colour temperature control. Sunlight scenes from dawn ‘til dusk is under the videographer’s control with the simple use of the Godox Light App, remote (sold separately), or DMX controller (also sold separately). The M600Bi allows you to alter the colour temperature between 2800K to 6500K, the amount of customisation on offer from just this one light is outstanding.

On top of the possibilities provided by the range of colour temperature variance, the M600Bi can adjust its brightness in very fine stages (0.1% increments), or quickly (in 10% increments). When combining the fine adjustment possibilities of the brightness levels with the colour temperature variance, the M600Bi truly provides its operator with an impressive amount of control. With a CRI of 96 an a TLCI of 97, Godox are really pushing the accuracy and colour authenticity of the light, boasting that the M600Bi is fantastic even for using for close-ups. Running at almost silent on its normal setting, the M600Bi also has a “silent mode” that can be switched to when filming those intimately quiet scenes.

At Lencarta we’re always excited by whatever Godox is working on, and once again they haven’t disappointed with their latest COB light. Godox keep knocking it out of the park!
