The flashguns fit onto the cold shoes fitted to the adapter, which can be adjusted for both height and reach, making it ideal for all flashguns. A radio trigger set or receiver is normally used to trigger each flash, but some flash guns also allow a standard synch cable to be used for this.
When used with a softbox, the flashguns are angled so that they bounce off of the reflective walls of the softbox, which produces very even lighting (unlike single flashguns pointing forwards, which cannot illuminate the diffusers evenly). And 3 flashguns can produce enough power for most studio lighting needs, and a useful amount of power for outdoor use.
A major advantage of using hotshoe flashguns is the very short flash durations that can be obtained when they are used at low power, so our adapter, used with an umbrella or a softbox, can produce short enough flash durations to freeze rapid subject movement such as dancing, flying hair etc.
This adapter fits straight on to any standard lighting stand or, using the adapter supplied, it can be fitted to a tripod fitted with the standard 1/4" Whitworth screw.
